about

From leader Dan Gabel: "In 2009, I had had the honor to tour all over the United States, Canada, and Japan for more than 300 shows with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. While it was an incredible experience, I longed for my family and friends, and the food, sights, and traditions that only New England could offer. During one of our listening sessions on the Miller band, my good friend (and fellow Yankee) Jason Bennett, introduced me to the song "Homesick for New England." I had already conceptualized an album about New England, and I knew at that moment that I had found the title.

New England had a significant role, from the Revolution to the present, in shaping the United States, which is paralleled by the diverse musical influence the area had on jazz and big band music. And so, from the Minutemen to the musicians, this album is dedicated to you."
